Tembo Steels Launches New Products, Earns Superbrand Status
The contribution of Tembo Steels (U) Ltd to the manufacturing sector in Uganda continues to leap to great heights.Â
Recently, the company launched their latest product, the Tembo Pure TMT rebars, a steel innovation that reduces CO2 emissions by 70 percent.
Mwebesa Francis, the Minister of Trade Industry and Cooperatives, commended Tembo Steels for steering innovations in the country.
The minister said the Tembo Pure TMT rebars launch boosts their profile and shows their commitment to championing the president’s emphasis on the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda concept.
Mwebesa noted that for local companies to break even and remain competitive in the region, they need to strongly adopt initiatives like import substitution, value addition and innovation.
He added that Tembo Steels has demonstrated this through producing steel products made in Uganda.

Sanjay Awasthi, the founder and chairperson of the Tembo Steels, has incorporated German technology to enhance the production of stronger steel. This, he said, has given them an edge in the market.
Tembo Steels said the launched Tembo Pure TMT rebars are sustainable, stronger and able to withstand any form of weather, construction project and natural calamities like earthquakes.
At the launch of Tembo Pure TMT rebars, Tembo Steels was awarded and recognised as a Superband, a prestigious status.
