The State Minister for Animal Industry, Dr. Bright Rwamirama, Tuesday witnessed the swearing in of the new National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) board of Directors at NAGRC&DB offices in Entebbe.

Under the Animal Breeding Act, 2001, Part V, sections 17 and 18, the Cabinet of the Republic of Uganda, in its sitting of 8th May, 2023 approved the appointment of the new NAGRC&DB Board of Directors as the governing body of the agency.

New board members are Mr Anyama Ben(Chairperson), Dr Kibedi Bilal Cabral, Dr. Mulindwa Henry Aaron, Ms. Teddy Alako, Dr. Ademun Anna Rose Okurut, Dr. Herman Ssekiwunga, Dr. Richard Urri Akule, Eng.Ssenozi Robert Wajja, Mr. Epel Anthony Raymond, Hon. Sheila Mwine Kabeije, Dr. Samuel Kanakulya Lubinga and Dr.Peter Beine( Board Secretary).

Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister for Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, recently appointed Dr Peter Beine as the NAGRC/DB Executive Director.

At the inauguration event, Rwamirama assorted superior dairy breeding bulls to farmers who are members of dairy cooperatives identified across the country.

The NAGRC/DB promotes the conservation and improvement of indigenous livestock breeds, including those reared for beef production.
