UDC, Manufacturers Moot Industrial Partnership
Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) officials led by the board chairperson, Godfrey Ruhurira, met with the board chairperson of Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), Deo Kayemba, to discuss areas of strategic partnership for industrial development.
The UDC is the investment arm of the government mandated to promote and facilitate the industrial and economic development of Uganda while UMA is the umbrella body for manufacturers in Uganda.
On its part, UMA noted that industry can only be driven by development financing hence the need to actualise the economic development fund that will support manufacturing activities.
Kayemba, speaking during UMA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) last December, promised to strengthen the association’s financial position.
It is therefore believed that a partnership between UMA and Uganda Development Corporation is a move in the right direction. Â
