URA Moves To Support Tax Payers Meet Tax Obligation
To effortlessly carry out its mandate and its targets, the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is vigorously carrying out tax education and awareness activities across the country. The activations are aimed at enabling Ugandans to understand the need to pay taxes.
The latest of such activities is the tax agents’ engagement at Mestil Hotel in Kampala on Friday. URA organized the workshop to discuss pertinent issues in the execution of their unique role as they support taxpayers in their journey to voluntary tax compliance.
The URA Commissioner for Domestic Taxes, Sarah M. Chelangat, opened the workshop. She thanked the agents for supporting taxpayers in meeting their tax obligations and urged them to share their feedback on their relationship with URA.
“As URA, we’re a service-oriented entity eager to pick feedback from you, and we believe that this engagement is the right avenue to get it,” she
Adding: “We can’t develop Uganda without such partnerships. We need all the support we can get from you since you support our clients on a day-to-day basis.”
The tax body has been holding tax sensitization sessions in different parts of the country.
Tax education teams continue to deliver URA services to taxpayers as well as create awareness and consultancy on tax matters including using digital platforms to pay taxes.
Chelangat thanked the outgoing Tax Agents Registration Committee (TARC) members who’ve served their three year term and welcome the new members who’ll be installed today.
I salute the founding members of TARC, especially for holding down the committee so resiliently throughout the COVID-19 period, she said.
“As URA, we want to serve our taxpayers better as a service oriented entity that’s why we’re always eager to collect feedback from our different stakeholders,” she added.Â
