A business forum organised by the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) in collaboration with Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade and the Türkiye Exporters Assembly in Kampala on Wednesday applauded the rapidly growing economic partnership between Uganda and Türkiye.

Noting that trade between the two countries more than doubled in 2025, the engagements focused on identifying new market opportunities, building commercial partnerships, and laying a firm foundation for future joint ventures.

The business forum brought together several Turkish companies, industrialists, and their Ugandan counterparts for business-to-business talks and policy discussions aimed at consolidating the trade and investment ties.

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Uganda, Fatih Ak, commended the forum, saying it reflects the growing momentum in bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

“Our bilateral trade volume, which stood at $75.1 million in 2024, reached $160.5 million in 2025,” AK said.

He added that despite the sharp increase in trade, the partnership still has a significant untapped potential. He noted that Turkish companies have attained internationally recognised expertise in sectors that align closely with Uganda’s development priorities, namely agriculture, textiles, food processing, household appliances, consumer electronics, the automotive industry and pharmaceuticals.

The Ambassador said that Türkiye exported goods worth $120 million to Uganda during the period, while imports from Uganda reached $40.5 million.

“For Ugandan importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers and project developers, Türkiye is a dependable sourcing partner capable of meeting both large-scale industrial demand and specialised market requirements,” he said.
