National Science Week Kicks Off At Kololo Independence Grounds
The annual National Science Week has kicked off at Kololo Independence Grounds with a promise to showcase the milestones Uganda has achieved in the domains of Science, Technology and Innovations.
The event starting today November 6 2023 and ends on November 11 2023 is being hosted by the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Secretariat. The Week, in its 3rd edition, celebrates the country’s realms of Science, Technology, and Innovation across all the sectors of the economy.
Dr. Monica Musenero Masanza, the Minister for Science, Technology & Innovation, recently told journalists at a press conference to launch the National Science Week 2023 that a total of 400+ exhibitors are expected at the event.
The Minister said Uganda cannot afford to remain a passive observer as global initiatives, primarily driven by our counterparts in the fields of Science-led transformation, shape the future that will determine our very survival.
Under the theme ‘Uganda Tusimbudde: Our Science-led Journey Towards Socio-economic Transformation’, the National Science Week is designed around eight thematic areas, which are technically aligned to the work we do here at the STI Secretariat under our Bureaus.
This theme is a call to action, inviting every Ugandan to actively participate in this exciting journey towards socio-economic progress, facilitated by Science, Technology, and Innovation, through the STI Secretariat and our partners, the Minister noted.
““Uganda Tusimbudde: Science-led” underscores the pivotal role of innovation, transcending all sectors, in both individual and national growth. After all, we are all Ugandans first, and this commitment to our nation’s development is everlasting,” she said.
