New Board Takes Over At UNOC
A new board of directors has taken over at Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC).
The new board comprises of Mathias Katamba (Chairman), Engineer Herbert Mugizi, Justine Isenyi, Dr. Ivan Lule, Mr. Moses Kabanda, Dr. Simon Echegu, Ms. Zulaika Mirembe Kasajja
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa, presided over the handover from Emmanuel Katongole, the outgoing Chairman to Katamba.
Katongole has been Chairman for the last eight years.
Speaking at the handover, Nankabirwa noted that the oil and gas sector holds immense potential to drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and improve the standard of living.
“However realizing these benefits require prudent management, responsible decision making, and adherence to the highest ethical standards,” she said.
“As we embark on this new chapter, it is imperative that we remain steadfast in our commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance. I’m confident that the individuals appointed will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of UNOC,” she added.
Speaking last week at a dinner honoring the exceptional leadership of the outgoing board, Nankabnirwa said the legacy of the outgoing board sets a strong foundation for the future.
With ambitious goals for growth and sustainability, we look forward to building upon their achievements, she said. Let’s recommit ourselves to the success and growth of Uganda’s oil and gas industry, she added.
