The Minister of State for Cooperatives, Hon. Alero Tom Aza, undertook a three-day working tour of the Bunyoro Sub-Region from October 22 to 24, 2026, to assess the performance of cooperative societies and strengthen accountability in community-based enterprise programmes. In the tour, the Minister met district leaders from Hoima, Masindi, Kikuube, Kagadi, Buliisa, Kiryandongo and Kakumiro to review progress, challenges and accountability within Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOs and Emyooga SACCOs. The tour was also aimed at reviving the cooperative spirit through engagements with the Bunyoro Growers Cooperative Union and other primary cooperatives, with a focus on strengthening cooperative leadership and improving the effectiveness of SACCOs in supporting community livelihoods and enterprise development.
