The Minister of State for Planning, Amos Lugoloobi, has said that by launching Makerere University Data Repository (The MAKDATA system), a data management system, the university is showcasing its commitment to embracing technological advancements and staying at the forefront of academic excellence.

“I do not doubt that it will serve as a valuable resource for advancing research, driving academic excellence, and ultimately, contributing to the social and economic development of the nation,” the minister, who was the Chief Guest at the launch, said.

He said data serves as a cornerstone for informed decision making, providing valuable insights and evidence to guide strategic planning,resource allocation and policy development.

The Minister also encouraged all Ugandans to actively participate in the upcoming National Population and Housing Census next month (May 2024).
