Local Government Told To Strengthen Your Revenue Administration
Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Matia Kasaija in a message delivered by the acting Director of Debt & Cash Policy at the ministry, Maris Wanyera, has called on local governments to strengthen their revenue administration & collection enhancement measures.Â
“I request you to strengthen your revenue administration & collection enhancement measures through automation of processes and having in place the right policies, by-laws & ordinances that promote local revenue enhancement and generation,” Wanyera said, quoting her boss.
Wanyera was speaking at the Local Government Regional Budget Consultative Workshops FY 2024/25 in Mbale on Monday, September 25 2025. For the second week, the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development teams are conducting the workshops in Gulu, Mbale, Mbarara & Masaka.
The ministry said during these workshops, they are communicating government budget strategy & priorities for FY 2024/25. “We are also discussing the investment priorities to facilitate the development growth strategies as well as budget implementation challenges affecting service delivery across local governments,” the ministry revealed.
In Mbale, Kasaija’s statement read by Wanyera highlighted the budget priorities for the next financial year. The priorities are agricultural production & value addition, climate change & management of food security and implementation of the Parish Development Model.
Others are accelerated development of the mineral sector, consolidating infrastructure development, security & governance, human capital development, digitalization & automation of the economy as well as private sector development.
