Minister of Internal Affairs Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu on Wednesday paid a familiarisation visit to Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala. Accompanied by Permanent Secretary Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu and welcomed by the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, the minister toured Uganda Police Force facilities in Naguru.

Prof Kamuntu emphasised science-led policing, professionalism, merit-based promotions, and stronger collaboration to enhance safety, justice, and the rule of law as Uganda advances toward higher middle-income status. The minister also visited JLOS Towers, where several Ministry departments, including the NGO Bureau, have relocated.

Expressing satisfaction with what he saw, the minister said:

“We came, we saw, and we have appreciated. I am pleased with what I have seen in the Uganda Police Force. If the Force is well-equipped, well-trained, and adequately facilitated, it can achieve the security aspirations of this country.”

He later visited the JLOS Towers, where several Ministry departments, including the NGO Bureau, have relocated.

The Minister pledged his full support to the Uganda Police Force, particularly in strengthening crime prevention, improving the welfare of personnel, and enhancing career development through timely promotions.

IGP Byakagaba thanked Prof Kamuntu for sparing time to visit Police Headquarters. He briefed the Minister on the current status of the Uganda Police Force, highlighting its strategic priorities, key operational challenges, and the measures being implemented to address them.
