Insurer Tackles Non Communicable Diseases With Maisha Fiti
Insurance services provider, Jubilee Health Insurance Uganda (Jubilee Insurance Uganda), recently launched the Maisha Fiti wellness program and Mobile App under the “Do Anything for the Steps’ campaign.
The insurance company explained that the campaign is aimed at encouraging members of the public to take up activities such as walking, running and cycling to increase their energy levels and overall vitality making their life more enjoyable.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jubilee Health Insurance Uganda, Dan Musiime, said Maisha Fiti is a comprehensive platform which links like-minded individuals who are keen on healthy living.
“The app will provide knowledge and tools that individuals can use to live a long and healthy life. It is a testament to our commitment to the wellbeing of our customers,” he said at the launch.
Caroline Ndungu, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Jubilee Insurance Group, said this campaign was launched with the aim of empowering customers to live free. Â
“Those who manage to hit their exercise goals will be rewarded with discounted J-Care insurance packages,” she said, and encouraged their customers to download the Maisha Fiti app that will capture their data.
The Maisha Fiti initiative is designed to empower customers by placing them at the forefront of their preventive and curative healthcare journey.
It also aims to cultivate a supportive community where users can engage with peers and healthcare experts, delving into a spectrum of topics including nutrition, lifestyle management, maternal health, mental well-being, and more.
According to the World Health Organization, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) claim approximately 41 million lives globally each year. Uganda, grappling with similar health challenges, contends with an estimated 39 percent of deaths attributed to NCDs.
“Lifestyle-related illnesses not only compromise an individual’s quality of life but also exert a substantial burden on families and national resources. The alarming rise in such diseases necessitates an immediate prioritization of our health. Maisha Fiti seeks to empower our customers to make informed decisions regarding their diet and overall well-being,” Musiime said. Â
