Tanna praises Uganda Breweries’ economic data
Trade Minister Sanjay Tanna on Wednesday launched the Oxford Economics report for Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) at Sheraton Kampala Hotel. The minister applauded the UBL economic data for guiding policy. Tanna emphasised that research is vital for business growth.
The Minister commended the Oxford Economics Report on the national economy, saying that the data will improve the ministry’s industrial planning. He added that many Ugandans do business by guessing rather than using facts. He reiterated that businesses need research to grow, adding that the ministry remains focused on using facts to build a strong economy.
Uganda Breweries Limited contributed Shs1.127 trillion to the national economy in 2024. The total gross value-added equals 4 per cent of Uganda’s manufacturing output. The total includes Shs203 billion directly contributed to GDP, Shs267 billion from its supply chain, Shs105 billion from employee spending, and Shs552 billion via downstream trade.
