Xsabo Group To Commission 38,0000 Solar Panels Project
Xsabo Nkonge Solarline, a $17 million 20 MW solar power plant in Mubende district, will be commissioned before 31st March 2024, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. David Alobo, has revealed.
He was speaking in Mubende at a function where Uganda Development Bank (UDB), the project’s financier, released their 2023 performance. He confirmed that the project will feed into the national grid.
“With 2OMW, it is as big as the Pilot Solar Power Plant 20 A of The Xabo Group in Kabulasoke [Gomba district], the largest solar power plant in East and Central Africa,” Dr. Alobo said.
He thanked UDB for providing the loan facility that has enabled the successful construction of the most modern solar power in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The UDB acting Managing Director, Denis Ochieng, said the Bank’s strategy is to support the key sectors of the economy, especially the green economy.
The 38, 0000 solar panels plant will be the second solar plant proudly owned by a Ugandan, fully constructed and operated by Ugandans, a key milestone in Uganda’s Energy profile.
It speaks directly to the country’s Local Content and BUBU Policies.
It was revealed at the launch of construction for Xsabo Nkonge Solarline at Kabende village, Kyakasa parish, Nkonge in Mubende district that UDB provided $h7.9 million while DFCU Bank provided $4.2 million of the needed $17.3 million. Xsabo Group brought the remaining $5.1 million.
