The Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum (UCMP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uganda Association of Artisanal and Small-scale Miners Uganda.

The overall objective of the MoU signed at the Sheraton Hotel is to build the capacity of artisanal miners in the country and to unlock jobs and related opportunities. Other key issues in the MoU are consensus building, value chain transparency & accountability.

Peter Lokeris, the State Minister for Minerals officiated at the signing ceremony and promised total government support towards the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding.

The UCMP is a not-for-profit company promoting the growth and development of Uganda’s mining and petroleum industries, for the benefit of all Ugandans and investors.
