Minister Directs On Poultry Waste
The agriculture minister, Frank Tumwebaze, reveals that waste management is a challenge many poultry farmers face.
“[The] majority of poultry farmers I have visited and interacted with enjoy their business because it generates daily cash some seasonal challenges notwithstanding. One challenge however that cuts across is waste management,” he said during a visit to visit FICLAU poultry, a private farm in Namayumba, Hoima Road.
He added: “I have accordingly asked our scientists at National Agriculture Research Organization (NARO) to innovate and come up with a complete solution on effective waste management.”
He explained that a number of other products like manure, biogas, briquettes, liquid soap among others can be made from the poultry waste.
“….but what farmers need is the safe methodology & technology to use in processing the waste in a manner that is environmentally sustainable.”
FICLAU is a modern farming project with state of the art automation and for maintaining high standards of biosafety .
The minister encouraged all Ugandans with some money to invest to study and learn from FICLAU.
