Finance To Rein In On Infrastructure Development Cost
The Minister of State for Investment & Privatization Evelyn Anite while opening a regional consultative workshop in Arua said the government will next Financial Year continue consolidating infrastructure development to reduce the cost of doing business.
She said the focus will be on the maintenance of the road network, assets infrastructure & construction of more roads. Completing rehabilitation of the metre gauge railway line & starting construction of the standard gauge railway will also be a priority.
Other areas of focus, the minister said, will be completing rural electrification connectivity to cover the remaining districts & sub-counties.Â
She also said Human Capital Development remains pivotal for the development of a healthy population & a skilled labour force. “The provision of health, education & safe water remains a priority in the budget strategy for next financial year,” Anite said.
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has this week conducted Local Government Budget Consultations for Financial year (FY) 2024/25 in Lira, Hoima, Masaka & Arua.
Local government leaders made presentations on improving agro-industrialization, managing natural resources, environment, climate change issues as well as land and water resources.
They also discussed strategies for private sector development to create wealth & jobs, regional development & development plan implementation. Also discussed were improving community mobilization & mindset change, human capital development issues & integrated transport infrastructure & services.
