The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new board of directors of Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited who officially assumed office.
In her address to the new board the minister emphasized that, the electricity distribution system is the lifeline of our nation’s social and economic transformation. It holds immense potential to power industries, stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and uplift communities by expanding access to sustainable, reliable and affordable energy. Yet, to fully realize these benefits, we must embrace prudent management, make responsible and forward-looking decisions, uphold the highest technical, environmental and ethical standards. Through innovation, investment and collaboration, we can build a resilient and efficient distribution network that lights every home, fuels every enterprise, and drives our country toward a brighter and more sustainable future.
Members of the board include; Mr. Francis Tumuheirwe as Chairman, Mr. Paul Mwesigwa as Managing Director, Eng. Cecilia Nakiranda Menya, Mr. Christopher Mugisha, Mrs. May Sengendo, Dr. Brian Isabirye, Mr. Kalanguka Kayondho, Ms. Lydia Ochieng-Obbo, and Ms. Elizabeth Kasenene Rumanyika. The Company Secretary is Ms. Esther Naikoba Mulyagonja.
