Pearl of Africa and Tourism Expo 2025

To President Yoweri Museveni, POATE 2025 was another advocacy opportunity for African solidarity and concerted efforts to unlock the continent’s full potential. His message at the event opening echoed the role of tourism in driving socioeconomic growth. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enabling tourism development through Vision 2040 and Uganda’s tenfold growth strategies, among others. He said no single African country can stand alone in today’s interconnected tourism market.
This was contained in a speech delivered by the Prime Minister of Uganda at the Pearl of African Tourism 2025 Expo at Speke Resort-Munyonyo on May 22, 2025. Museveni said collaborating will help African Nations to form synergies needed to respond to global changes and build a resilient and inclusive tourism sector The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) is an annual event showcasing Uganda’s unique attractions, promoting the country as a prime destination for tourism investment, partnerships, and cultural exploration.
This concept brings together tourism operators, travel agents, hospitality stakeholders, and investors worldwide, creating a platform to promote Uganda’s brand as “The Pearl of Africa. Staged under the theme of Tourism and Sustainable Transformation, the expo attracted over 300 exhibitors from Africa and across the globe.
