Govt Moots Capital Markets Reforms
The Minister of State General Duties Henry Musasizi reveals that the government is coming up with important reforms to grow the Capital Markets in Uganda. Musasizi made the revelation while meeting the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) Board and the technical team to discuss the operations of the Authority.
“There is growing interest in Private Equity. There is a need to position this market to attract these funds to support economic development,” said Musasizi.
He also called for the strengthening of the Capital Markets Authority to effectively perform its mandate. He pledged his support to ensure that
the Authority works professionally for market development.
He said further consultations with the Attorney General on amending the Capital Markets Authority Act (Cap 84) are ongoing as advised by Cabinet.
