PPDA Promotes Local Content in Public Procurement
PPDA Team on visit to Roofings Group, Lubowa
KAMPALA – A team from the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) this week visited Roofings Group Uganda at its head office in Lubowa.
Led by Benson Turamye, the Executive Director of the Authority, the engagement is part of the PPDA’s efforts to monitor performance and promote local content in public procurement.
He pointed out that the monitoring assesses the volume of local input contractors are purchasing, “Government projects must buy your products, but how much are you buying locally? The cycle will be complete when inputs to your products also contribute to growing the economy.”
Following the interaction, the PPDA team was guided around the manufacturing plant to witness firsthand the production processes of some of Roofing’s key products.
Through engagements like this, PPDA strengthens collaboration with the private sector, ensuring that public procurement delivers value for money and drives local industry participation, job creation, and sustainable economic development.
