Passengers Using Entebbe Airport On The Rise
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) reveals that Entebbe International Airport handled 80,719 arriving and 91,271 departing passengers which is a total of 171,990 international passengers; an average of 5,548 passengers per day in March, 2024. This is an average of 2,009 more passengers than was handled per day in March 2023.
The Authority also revealed that Entebbe International Airport, which is currently undergoing renovation, recorded 1,902 metric tonnes of imports and 3,780 metric tonnes of exports making a total of 5,682 metric tonnes in March 2024.
Renovations at Entebbe
According to a report by the Daily Monitor newspaper, quoting the Director General of UCAA Fred Bamwesigye, the upgrade and expansion of Entebbe International Airport stands at 90 percent level of completion.
“The major remaining project is the 20,000 square meters terminal building, currently under construction to connect to the existing terminal building and is at 60 percent level of completion,” Bamwesigye told Daily Monitor.
