Parliament To Start Consideration Of Proposals In Tax Bills
The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has revealed that Parliament will start the consideration of the proposals in the Tax Bills this week.
The proposals to be considered include a government plan to impose a 5% capital gains tax on non-business assets such as land and rental properties in cities and municipalities.
A proposal to impose Shs500 on each 50 kg bag of construction materials like lime and plans to impose a 0.5% levy on cash withdrawals from agent banking, & tax on fuel products, etc.
“If by God’s grace, we finish the RAPEX Bills today, then we shall start on the Tax Bills. We need to take our time on the tax bills, even if we pass one bill on a day, we should be able to handle them systematically,” said Among.
