Kampala Gets First Electric Motor Bike Charging Station
The Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Erias Lukwago, on Thursday launched the Electric motor bike charging station at our Lubaga Division office, the first of its kind in Uganda.
In an effort to advance the Smart City Agenda, KCCA in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union in Uganda (EU) through the PIFUD program have been implementing small-scale local investments in Low-Carbon energy systems delivery.
One of the Investments undertaken was the construction of an electric motorcycle charging station. The project is aimed at advancing the Smart City Agenda
The Head of Inclusive Green Economy at the EU in Uganda, Lennart Derrider, was present at the launch.
The construction of the charging station was funding by the European Union through Zembo, a leading the African company that makes and provide affordable electric two-wheelers (boda boda) to low-income motorcycle-taxi drivers.
