Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), in partnership with the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon, Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), and the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife & Antiquities (MTWA), hosted renowned international sports commentator Rob Walker at UTB offices to highlight the impact of sports tourism. The forthcoming Mt. Rwenzori Marathon in Kasese on August 23rd is set to position Uganda as Africa’s leading adventure tourism destination under the Explore Uganda brand.

 Rob Walker emphasized that such events are powerful magnets for global recognition, attracting athletes and adventure seekers while showcasing Uganda’s landscapes, wildlife, and culture. UWA pledged free entry to tourism hotspots in the Rwenzori region for global influencers and 50% discounts for marathoners further strengthening destination Uganda.

UTB CEO Juliana Kagwa noted that international influencers will share their experiences in real-time across digital platforms, amplifying Uganda’s story worldwide. With growing participation numbers, the Rwenzori Marathon is not just a race but a gateway to unlocking Uganda’s adventure, culture, and hospitality for the world.
