Arua aerodrome to upgrade to an International Airport

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Transport Mr. Waiswa Bageya
The African Development Bank looks into upgrading Arua Airport to an International Airport. The Bank held talks with Permanent Secretary Mr. Bageya on the Aerodromes Development Project ahead of the Bank’s pre-approval mission.
The project supports Uganda’s Fourth National Development Plan & the Civil Aviation Master Plan, targeting the upgrade of regional aerodromes — Arua, Gulu, Pakuba, Kidepo, Kisoro & Kasese — into an international-standard network.
For Phase one Arua Airport, in Arua City (West Nile’s regional capital), has been prioritized. As a key gateway to DRC, South Sudan & neighboring countries.
The project will boost trade, agriculture, tourism, cargo & job creation, driving economic transformation and poverty alleviation for Uganda and the wider region.
